We’re celebrating nurses from all walks of life as we journey to The Nurses March on Washington – taking place May 12, 2022.   Below, you’ll see some familiar faces along with a few new allies. Rahru Arceneaux, Publicist, Producer & Principal Consultant

Rahru R. Arceneaux is the Founder and Creative Director of Haute Choc’lat Multimedia Group a boutique multimedia agency that specializes in public relations, integrated marketing and brand consulting. Based in Atlanta, Georgia Haute Choc’lat has four divisions; and it has clients in entertainment, lifestyle, and the non-profit arena. Signature clients include The RICE Awards, The Steeple Awards, Divine Voice Entertainment, and multi award-winning artist ChoirBoi Cam. Rahru is also the co- owner of Lollipop productions with her daughter Zuri. It is the first African American owned mother/daughter production company. Lollipop produces family-based feature and shorts films along with educational public service announcements. Rahru is also the managing partner and principal producer at Eclips Studios, a hybrid production and integrated marketing firm. Rahru also serves as the Executive Director of The Association of Gospel Songwriters (TAGS).

Marla Barthen, Executive Director of The Nurses March

Marla currently works as a RN and medical technical consultant in the film industry in Wilmington, North Carolina. Marla is marking her 30th year as a Registered Nurse this May. Marla has worked in many settings, but claims cardiac, education, and project management to be her favorite areas of practice. She is known by her peers and collaborators as high energy and competent across several areas, a point of reference to consult or lead a team. Marla has always paired her nursing with activism. Marla started her career during the AIDS crisis and became an advocate and a speaker in the Northeast Ohio Task Force on AIDS. Whether working in critical care, occupational health, behavioral health or long-term care, Marla has made time to volunteer with Lions International, Central Ohio Diabetes Association, American Red Cross, and several other charitable and service organizations. Marla wants the nurses to be able to march together and lift their collective voices to address safety and quality in healthcare. She advocates for all nurses and is helping to mobilize a legislative push for change.

Nurse Jessica Sites, Social Media Influencer

Jessica graduated nursing school with her BSN in 2000, 22 years in the healthcare setting. For the last 20 years, she has worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery for a busy hospital. Her patients come to her at one of the most vulnerable yet exciting times in their life. Jessica has always found that chatting and using a sense of humor was a wonderful way to help put her patient’s mind at ease. She quickly became a social media addict, and she loved every minute of it. Now here two years later; Jessica has a YouTube channel and Instagram Account that are rapidly growing. She has a Facebook page that has really taken off, with almost 300,000 followers with a reach of 25 million a week. She has come a long way and have made many medical professionals laugh. If she can give someone even a little chuckle during their crazy chaotic lives, then Jessica has accomplished her goal.

Janessa Folmar, Logistics/ Volunteer Coordinator

Janessa received her ADN from Fortis Institute in Pensacola, Florida in March 2019 then continued on to graduate with her BSN from Chamberlain University. Her story is a woman going from one uniform to another. She served her community and country. Janessa joined the United States Navy and served 5 years with many deployments overseas. After her time in the Navy, she wanted to find a way to continue to serve her community and that’s how she found her love for nursing. She volunteers for local shelters alongside her family. Janessa currently resides in San Diego, California.

Dr. Sandra Risoldi, Nurse’s Against Violence Unite Founder

Dr. Sandra Risoldi DNP, MSN Ed., APRN, PMHNP-BC is a mother to two amazing teens, who possesses a passion for advocacy, safety, and quality education for healthcare workers. In August 2019, Dr. Risoldi successfully completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with the published project, “Preventing Patient on Nurse Violence Through Education©”, creating a 501 c(3) nonprofit Nurses Against Violence Unite, Inc.®, which sparked an international movement to support frontline healthcare workers and end healthcare violence. The mission of Nurses Against Violence Unite, Inc.® is to bring awareness to the issues, fill the gaps of education, empower all while eliminating violence in healthcare.

Bryanna Patterson,
Diversity & Policy

Bryanna Patterson is currently pursuing a Family Nurse Practitioner degree at the University of Rochester. Her nursing career started with a certification as a nursing assistant at Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC), on the job training as a Patient Care Technician (PCT), an ADN from Monroe Community College (MCC), and a BSN from the State University of New York (SUNY) at SUNY Brockport. She has 9 years’ experience in Med/Surg/Tele, IMC, and ICU. Most of her bedside experience was spent as a part of a float pool or as a travel nurse. Bryanna is currently a part-time Living Donor Advocate at a Level-1 trauma center in Upstate New York and serves as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee officer. She also currently serves as a health policy committee member of The Rochester Black Nurses Association, the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York, and is a member of The Genesee Valley Nurses Association. She has volunteered in many health awareness events throughout Rochester, NY. In 2021 she was awarded the Maria Dudley Advanced Practice scholarship and the Greater New York City Black Nurses Association scholarship. Bryanna is a boy mom to a 3-year-old, Mason.
